Our way, we go [Short]
Just making a quick blog here for a moment, I've made an error on how I do the ideas of the axiom of sandbox. There's something missing that I need to address here and what better way to just write at this time near the end of the week. It's not really going to be part of the axiom (or principles) per say... but they're simply nice-haves and continuation to expand upon (don't worry, I won't swear here):
- Friction is, if not at least, the only way to actually make boredom actually bearable to even consider working on. It's about having a bunch of inconvenience dropped right in front of you, but they are simple enough to manage and still forces you to work around to get the job done. It doesn't need to be excruciatingly difficult, but it actually makes the tasks bring in a sense of effort that otherwise wouldn't be found in games that gives you the efficiency right away.
- Flow State has its nuances on this part, but it stacks up well with the idea of low-stakes friction. Because it's simply this repetitive and isn't much to challenge against you, but the patience sets in as the work balances between the two extremes of difficulty. It can support the fuel of ideas, as well as boredom primarily.
- Energy makes it so how long you play with the axiom and the friction provided forces you to be present in the game. It's usually complex as it concerns the axiom itself on your game sessions as you play through the rocky friction that goes upon you. It's similar in strands of productive work, just that both friction and flow state actually makes breaks worth it.
That's all I gotta bring it out about these additional ideas, I have learned why friction is simply this important thanks to the game I've discovered by a video on youtube but I have forgotten the title or the link about it. I'll just say whoever made that, thanks you, to show how kingdom come deliverance makes the game great due to use of deliberate friction and inconvenience that forces you to be present in the game. If I ever find that video again however, I'll modify this paragraph; for now on, it'll have to wait.
This blog is unusually after a day on the main blog, and I want to show these ideas in broad day light once more. Stuff's going on as I got into Luanti's Mineclonia, but I did went to Minetest Game creative mode and it was underwhelming due to the friction completely eliminated out of the blue. So I will try to disable flight, picking limited block options, and sticking to the biome I am in (along with exploring biomes on foot).
That's all for now, have a good day! (Chirp!)
