My little manifesto for solo TTRPG
I'll say it here:
"The game is in the text (fiction); the rules are the ladder. Without the text, you'll procrastinating. Without some of the rules, you'll struggle."
It can be shorten as: "The Fiction is the Game."
There are many ways to interpret this; for all TTRPGs, including Solo Ones, always leads to playing Fiction as the game itself (Compare to Fiction-First, which is similar but different actually). It's about the text itself, treat it as a game itself, the mechanics only supplements it. (I refine this Manifesto in 9/29/2026, I actually forget this Manifesto until now and I realize how important Fiction and Text is in the game thanks to FKR.)
Also, whenever you play Solo TTRPGs, you want to do a little bit of work. That means you do a single bullet-point, a single sentence, or whatever's minimal is good enough. To be motivated by simply working is just to start small and work small, play it small and focusing on one thing. It's enough to start the momentum again and to keep the game going.
